Looking Forward

A lot of times as one year comes to a close and the next one begins, everyone – from bloggers to news outlets and everything in between – will do a year in review. Last year I did my decade in review, so I think that covers me until 2020.

If you want to sum up, 2010 was somewhat unspectacular, but decent. We visited my family back east, got a dog, and I got a new hobby.

I’m also not making any resolutions. Instead, I have goals, or things I’d like to work towards in 2011:

Regarding my hobby, I am really enjoying it and would like to continue. I’ve only made earrings so far, but like I said, I’m having fun. However, it’s not feasible for me to spend tons of money on supplies and all this time on my own personal collection, so my goal is to open an Etsy shop. I’d like to start with a decent stock, so I’m setting the goal of 100 pieces to open my shop with. When that happens, I’ll be sure to let you all know. Also going along with this goal is improving my photography skillz so that I have halfway decent photos of the product in my shop.

In 2011, Mister and I might be moving. Not sure where to or when, but it’s been in the works for awhile now. More about that will be announced as appropriate.

Of course there is the healthy eating, lose weight, blah blah blah that we always seem to have as a goal but always seem to forget as soon as it comes to actually making our food choices. Maybe I’ll eat a vegetable this year. Mostly I’d like to NOT gain any weight.

That’s about it. I’m trying to keep it realistic and fun.

What are your goals for 2011?

During the New Year’s Eve celebration at Patty’s house, our thinking about 2010 was “Good Riddence!”. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the depression rolls on. I stopped eating out (most of the time), and now cut my own hair. The only reason to spend money…to save money in the future…I have to treat each dollar I earn as the last dollar I will ever earn.

So many others are in the same boat as you are. Have you tried searching out money-saving blogs? A lot of them might be mom-centric but you can still get some good ideas from them.

6 days. The only resolution I’ve ever made and even came close to keeping. With so much stress all around me, it’s a wonder I’ve made it this far. The best part is, I’m breathing. I actually started last Saturday, went bonkers 3 hours later and ran out for cigs. Polished ‘em off and started all over again. And I keep praying (and eating). Hope I don’t have to buy a second seat on my flight to Vegas next month!

Maybe look online for some relaxation or meditation techniques? That might help a lot. You have Grandpa’s personality and get too worked up over stuff sometimes, so instead of focusing on your stress, try to focus on what you can be doing to relax, even if you just step away for 5 minutes to close your eyes and breathe.

I do not believe in resolutions and stay far away from making any kind of big change on or near new years. I feel like breaking new years resolutions has such a stigma with it making them is just setting myself up to fail. So even when I quit smoking I refused to do it as a new year thing so I waited a few weeks. LoL! That was ’98′ and I haven’t had a cigrerette since.

I don’t know why people feel they have to make resolutions on that one day of the year. I say, if you want to make a change, there’s no time like the present!
