Goalz . . . I haz them

Believe it or not, I have a list of things I want to do. Most of them revolve around the internet, my blog, and my computer. What, did you think I had serious life goals?

First, I have made the decision to switch my email address. I started out with my email at excite.com (remember them?) but when they started having issues, I switched it to Yahoo. I’ve had my email parked there for over 10 years now. But a few recent happenings made me decide to change that.

As you may or may not know from reading my Twitter or Facebook pages, I recently got a new phone. It’s a Droid. I like it a lot. In addition to checking Twitter and Facebook from my phone, I can also check email. But Droid doesn’t like to play nice with Yahoo mail. It would download the same mail multiple times, then when I got home from vacation and actually logged into Yahoo, it downloaded all those messages again. So much for that. However, Droid does play nice with Gmail. I already have a Gmail address that I was only using as backup, so I’m swapping them out. Gmail will be my main email, and all my spam can continue to go to Yahoo. I’ll be doing the switch over the next week or so.

Oh, and also factoring into my decision to switch is this. I’d be lying if I tried to deny that. But I’ll have you know that I’ve never typed in all caps and have never forwarded chain mail. So goodbye, Yahoo.

Let’s see, next on the list? Organizing bookmarks. I’m guilty of just throwing bookmarks anywhere. You should see the folder for Blogs. Since the vast majority of what I read online is blogs, that folder is out of control. It needs teh organizing.

I plan on posting more on my blog. I have no idea about what, but that’s the plan.

I am thinking my desktop (the one my computer sits on, not the one on my computer) is in need of a major overhaul. If I can keep this level of motivation up for more than 20 minutes, it might get done this year.

And, to keep my husband happy, I want to learn how the dirt-sucker-upper works.

Oh dear….I think I’m guilty of a lot of the stuff…except I do not forward those cutsey things….or chain letters. In fact, I hate them!!!!

I think I’m going to move everything to g-mail….or maybe my own domain name..more likely. I’ve been avoiding it, but this may be a good time.

I knew you were going to get a Droid! Wink wink!

I think I was way ahead of most of those things from my very first day on the internet, so it’s about time I switched to a more competent-sounding email. The only reason I don’t go with email on my own domain is because I don’t have the time to figure all that stuff out or maintain it. For your business email, I highly recommend your own domain, but you definitely need to get away from what you currently have. If you choose Gmail, they have an easy import contact feature.

I do love my Droid. It saved my sanity during vacation since I was able to check email from it the minute I stepped off the plane.

I love my Gmail. It works well on my phone too, which is good.. because I’m lazy and hate when things don’t work!

Technically, my Yahoo mail works on my phone, but actions I take on the phone, like viewing and deleting read messages, don’t always translate to the web. Gmail has been much smoother.
