I don't regret for a minute having had two such awesome kids. And grandkids. I'd love to travel the world, pick up and go wherever whenever and here I am doing it all over with a 3 year old with autism. Maybe that's what was meant to be. I'm an advocate for my son and will fight to make sure he gets everything he needs. And he has a super great dad who's very involved. But that's the life I chose. N Period would liked to have kids and Aunt Bird might have tried to do something about it had she really known, but they have no regrets. I'm so glad that FH knows you so well and I'm glad you are mature enough to make the decisions that are right for you. The fact that you can look yourself squarely in the mirror and know where you're at is amazing. Most people I know have a lot of difficulty with that (even me a lot of times). So Kudos to you and don't let anybody try to make you feel guilty for not re-producing. It's your right to be happy who you are and who you're with!!!!

KFJ, sometimes it's scary how well he knows me, but at the same time that's the best part of it all.

Kelly, thank you so much for your support! I've never met your kids, but I can tell that you brought them up to be good people, and as they start families of their own they will remember the lessons you taught them and pass them down, which is the best compliment a parent can get.

I have two living daughters, one step daughter, and one grand daughter. I will tell you they are my heart and the greatest thing i ever did. I believe i was born to be a mom and they are truly my greatest accomplishments I am very proud of them.
However i have also known people who should never have been moms. Being a mom is draining both physicaly and emotionaly. I tell people who tell me they want kids they are crazy and should think long and hard befor they make this decision.
When i was raising my kids i was a stay at home mom. I can not tell you how much critisizem i was dealt because of this.
Funny how we allow what others think and feel to stear our decisions. Do whats right for you. Don't let what others think or feel is right make your decision.
LoL! Listen to me telling you what to do. I think i know you well enough to know your going to make the best decision for you and to hell with others. I guess i'm just trying to give you some support for your decision what ever it might be.
(HUGS!)

Hi Zhu, thanks for visiting! The decision to not have kids really wasn't difficult, by the time I met FH it was really a matter of just saying it out loud. But I did look at where I've been, where I was heading, and whether or not I was happy on that path.

Hi Vegas girl!

I'm happy you left a comment on my blog because it gives me a chance to discover yours!

You seem extremely "lucid" when it comes to your childhood and your choices of life. It's hard to analyze oneself with the necessary distance...

I think having kids or not is a really personal decision and one that shouldn't be influenced by our culture/ background/ friends etc. My best friend in Canada is pregnant right now and although I love sharing a bit of that moment with her, I just don't feel ready myself. Although I do think I want kids, I don't want to do it just "to belong", even sub-conscientiously...
