It Doesn’t Make Sense
‘Splain something to me. This past week saw me eating way too much fast food, since Boyfriend and I didn’t go grocery shopping. We ate out, ate fast food take-out and too much junk food, didn’t track points and didn’t exercise. Yet today when I weighed in at WW today, I was down 1.6lbs. I do not get it at all. All the rules were broken and I was still down. This totally sends the wrong message!
In other news, the computer issue has finally been fixed. Turns out all I had to do was update the driver for the network adapter. Lesson learned: stay away from Vista. Research done regarding my problem shows that many, many people have issues with accessing the internet via wireless even though the actual wireless connection is strong. It’s unique to Vista. Save yourselves and get a Mac.
Boyfriend and I went to LA on Monday to meet some of his Silly Little Game friends for lunch. I was going to blog about that earlier in the week, but the computer issue was more pressing. I’m hoping to get around to it this weekend, while it’s still fairly fresh in my mind.

YAY Macs. I like them a lot, even though I am currently using a PC. My next computer will definitely be a Mac, whenever I get around to upgrading again. I’ve actually never heard anything good about Vista, funny enough. It looks kind of pretty, but it seems to be a copy of the previous MAC OS that has been out for years…and runs pretty much flawless. Go figure.
Also, I used to lose weight by eating fast food, no idea how or why, but you aren’t alone on that. In fact, I used to tell people I had a “fast food” diet because I can lose weight by eating it. lol. I think more than anything it is the portions that need to be dealt with appropriately. *shrug* Who knows!
Kevin, I used to use a Mac at an old job - it was a graphics house and I fell in lurve wtih them. But finances and other practical reasons (I was the go to tech support person for the family) led me to a PC. Not anymore. I’ll try to get all the life I can out of the current machines, assuming they want to live, then I’m going Mac.
I really think the portion thing was my saving grace this week. In the past year or so I’ve really learned to control my portions and stay in my comfort zone, which is one of the most important things.
Weight is a weird thing. I know the feeling of eating out because you’ve not done the grocery shopping - while it’s fun for a week, I always end up regretting it afterwards.
Oh and Macs are fabulous. My boyfriend has a Mac and I am so so so jealous!
Here in Las Vegas we have such a variety of restaurants that it’s easier to eat out than it is to eat in, and grocery shopping is a bit of a pain because no one store (even within the same chain) will carry everything that you are looking for, so multiple trips are needed.
i’ll just stick with XP for a long, long time… like i did with W98 SP2… if it works, i don’t mess with it.
Weight is not linear, it’s not directly controlled by us in a push-the-button, get-the-result kind of way, and it has its own rhythms and its own logic. Weight will make you its bitch slave if you give it half a chance.
I have a fellow weight-loss surgery friend who, throughout her entire journey downward, kept her behaviors consistent but her weight would always maintain for 3 weeks in a row and only lose on the 4th week. Why? Who the eff knows?
You cannot speak logic to a scale. Don’t even try. Frame your success by your healthy behaviors rather than by the number achieved. It’s the only way.
Minijonb, if we didn’t buy the laptop when we did, we wouldn’t have vista. We seriously considered the mac, but needed this in a hurry and wanted something compatible with the rest of the computers in the house, and didn’t have time to tackle the learning curve. Next time, definitely a mac.
Puppie, thanks so much for for that. I know I could be making a better effort, but I guess as long as I’m making some effort I’m good. And a big hug to you! I don’t comment much on LJ, but just a big yay to you!
