This morning I met with the sales manager at my friend’s company. She wasn’t even sure what she would be able to do with me, all they know there is that the sales department is hurting bad and isn’t able to capture all the accounts that they want. We chatted a bit, I learned more about the company, and I started formulating a game plan in my head. But now that I see the company I’m not so sure. I mean, I know it would be great to work with my friend and all, I know she has a great thing going there. But my fear is that they are soooo busy they won’t have time to train me properly and I’ll slip on the learning curve trying to figure it out. I still gotta talk money with my friend, so we’ll see where that goes.
I went over to The Man’s house tonite. He has so much catching up to do, but it was good to hang out and relax. Here’s a bonus – that nasty text message I got wasn’t even from him! It was from his phone, sure, but he fell asleep and some nasty psycho-bitch (the ex from the text msg) stole his phone and sent that message to a bunch of his female friends. He showed me all the text messages that went out that afternoon, and they were all the same but to different people. That makes me feel better. I had no idea what was going on, and because knowing him is still so new it did make sense to me that he could cut out a new friendship. Boy oh boy drama, but it’s 99.99% her. As long as he can keep her at arm’s length, we should be fine. So far neither one of us has plans for tomorrow, so we’ll likely be hanging out again tomorrow.
While I was over at The Man’s house, another friend of his showed up for awhile. She turned out to be another lead for a job. I gave The Man a copy of my resume so that he could possibly help me in my job hunt, and he gave it to her. She liked it, she said what struck her most is that it was very well written and well organized. She knew that it was the mark of an efficient, organized person. Turns out her company is looking for a new project manager, and someone as organized (there’s that word again!) and detail-oriented as myself would be perfect. Now that she met me, she’s going to pass my resume along to the appropriate people at her workplace, and I’ll get in touch with her early next week to see. I told her about what I do and about meeting with my friend’s company, and she thinks I can go further and most likely make more money where she works. We shall see, I am definitely open to the idea. Right now, without any solid job offers on the table, I am not going to put all my eggs in one basket.
Overall, it turned out to be a very good day. Two job opportunities, got over the speed bump in my friendship with The Man, and made a new friend who could well lead me down the path to success.

hooray!!! goodness abounds!!! can’t wait to see how it all works out!!!
be careful with a man with recent baggage…it’s a hard thing to deal with…
