Someone Gave Me a Flower

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Family, Home, Work

New Boy started working with us today. I think he makes a fine addition to the group. Of course, he is a supreme sucker-upper. He brought each of us girls a white rose. I told Mad Scientist that New Boy is never allowed to work anywhere else. If he can charm the people we do business with the way he charmed us, he has a very wealthy future ahead of him.

Usually when we have a new person start, we close the office for lunch and all go out to eat. But there was too much going on today, so at noon when my stomach was yelling at me and I was starting to get shakey from too much hunger, I ate the lunch I brought with me, and burnt my tongue in the process. About half an hour later, my poopy-head boss Mad Scientist said, “Hey, let’s order out!” so not only did I not get free lunch because I was already full, I suffered by smelling all the wonderful food and feeling the pain of my burnt tongue. To soothe it I stopped and got some ice cream on my way home.

I’m really happy with my new template. Of course I still keep looking for all sorts of other cool stuff, but I’m really liking this. I’ve got a few other tweaks I want to do, but as you can see from my timestamp it’s well passed my self-imposed internet curfew. Whatever. Tomorrow is Friday and I get to be tired on Fridays, especially since I don’t have to work Job#2 later. And with it being a holiday weekend, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get out of work early (as the admin I usually have to stay until everyone else is gone or 5pm, whichever comes first).

I still have to pay bills tonite, since today was payday. Joy. I just love paying bills. But looking at the time and knowing how bill paying is not something that helps me sleep, I think I can wait until tomorrow after work. I’ll do it first thing when I get home.

And I got some interesting news from my mom today. She sold her house. She sold it in a week in a rather soft market, and got asking price for it. It was in no way underpriced, but being on a dead-end street in a quiet neighborhood that will not be developed any further due to conservation land being right next door, and because she listened to the stager and me regarding advice to make it sell faster, she sold it quick. I bet the neighbors down the street are jealous - their house has been on the market for 3 or 4 months. Now my mom has to look for a new house, but it will be in a town with much lower taxes, and she’ll be able to get the same sized house and the same amount or more land for $100K less. It will be weird having my mom in a new place. Even though her current home is not my childhood home, the town she’s moving to is about 40 minutes away (I think) and I’ve never been there. Visiting will be weird because I’m not familiar with the area at all. I needed some serious help finding this town on a map, and I’m really good with maps. I’ve dealt with her moving before, but it’s always been to towns I already know or at least the next town over, so the learning curve wasn’t that bad. This is totally new. A good thing about it though, she will be about half the distance to my Grandma than she is now, which will be convenient. Grandma doesn’t get out much and my mom spends every other weekend there to help her out. (Uncle Caboose takes the alternate weekends, and she has a nurse visitor during the week.)

Well that’s it for now. I have a serious urge to check Limewire iTunes to see if a song I’m craving is available, then it’s off to bed, hopefully before the sun rises. Till tomorrow….

I Have Comments

Published by Kirsten under Blog

My comments are properly formatted now. I guess it took awhile for the rest of my blog to catch up with the changes. Now I just wish I could delete my own because of the silly test comment I have in the previous post. For some reason the comment monderation didn’t seem to work, but the settings are all correct. I’ll play with it later. For now I’m gonna go lay down for another 20 mintues.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Computer, Internet

WOOHOO! I did it! I changed my template and got my sidebar the way I want it! Yeah! I’m so happy! Of course, I’m not stupid (see this post), I did back up my old template just in case something really bizarro happens. That kind of foresight is invaluable. But for now I’m just really happy I have a template I like. Except for one little thing: the comments pages show on the old template. I’m thinking something in the code got left out. I’ll play around with that some more to see if I can fix it.

Working on a New Template

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Blogger, Computer, Internet

I found a template I like. Actually, I found it some time ago but didn’t want to put forth the effort to get my sidebar the way I want it and edit the other stuff. Now I’m just working on it in Notepad bit by bit and pasting it in my template without saving, just to make sure it all works. Once it’s done I’ll post it. It’s much nicer than the one I have now. Not that I have anything against the Blogger templates, but like I said in the previous post, I want endless choices. Hopefully when the new Beta version is put into full effect, there will be many many more choices, along with the ability to edit the template without losing all the sidebar customizations. That’s the most frustrating part of changing templates. But for now, enjoy some new sidebar content all the way down at the bottom.

No Title Today

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Health, Internet, Work

I’m still frustrated with trying to edit my code. My biggest thing is being able to change the background. I figured out how to change the colors of my header, footer, profile box, post boxes, etc. But the main thing is that when I try to change the background, the round corners don’t show up correctly - the corners still have the old color. So something in the code needs to be done to show the rounded corners in the new color, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what it is. Can anyone help?

As for other blogger templates/hacks/widgets/add-ons etc, I am bored with the stuff I have found already. I have some idea of what I want to do, but every time I try to search either through a regular web search or by check out other people’s blogs, I keep coming up with the same stuff. I’ve even dug 10 or more pages into google and I’m not finding anything new. I want cool new toys for my blog and I want to be able to do the things I want. Some of it is just knowledge (see above paragraph) and the other part is my impatience with limited options. I want LIMITLESS options for cool stuff to do to my blog because I’m still infatuated with this blogging stuff and I’m hungry for more.

Turns out I will have Labor Day off. With 2 jobs, one can never count on getting time off, especially in retail. But we actually have staff now, and besides wanting to give me a day off, the rationale is that I cost more on holidays since I am eligible for holiday overtime and the new people are not. I need the money, but I also will appreciate a day off. Maybe I’ll get something done around the house since on work days I tend to spend all my spare time blogging.

I went for a massage tonite. This wasn’t a massage in the traditional sense, it was a super fancy version of those massage chairs you see in the mall. See, I got a call at work last week from a salesperson, which I usually hate because I don’t have time for that kind of crap. But before I could hang up, I heard the words “free massage.” Ok, now you got my attention. I signed up, and was promised a month of free massages if I went. So I did. Turns out the month of free massages is a huge sales pitch to get you hooked on the massage bed. It’s pretty nice, a bit better than those ones in the mall because it actually senses your body size and weight and adjusts itself accordingly, and there are a number of settings for different programs. I have a card that lets the staff mark off when I’ve been, and I can go whenver I want for the next month, every day if I want. No way am I gonna buy one of these things since they cost as much as a used car, but for the next month I’ll enjoy my free massages.

Well I’ve spent far too much time on the computer here, as usual. Time to eat dinner, and I’ll attempt to get to bed before midnight tonite. One can only hope.

So I Stayed Up Too Late Again

Published by Kirsten under Internet

But check this out - a site that lets you list, by logo, all the metros in the world that you’ve been on:

Got at b3co.com!

Pretty neat, eh? I have to admit, it might be a few more but I left out the ones from cities I know I’ve been to but can’t remember if I’ve actually been on their subway systems.

The Return of Dr. Grandma

Published by Kirsten under Internet, Work, sleep

FINALLY, Dr. Grandma has come to her senses and come back to work with us. She even brought donuts in this morning for everyone. I still think she’s not herself after her employment-elsewhere adventures. See, the Dr. Grandma I know would not go near a donut with a 10-foot pole. She’s totally carb-o-phobic. But I did enjoy the donuts, and I’m even happier that Dr. Grandma is back with us. Now our group is complete once more.

I worked at Job#2 tonite. It was miserably slow today, but for some excitement my coworker Ashes came in with a couple of classmates from her film class. They’re shooting some sort of PSA regarding proper walking techniques in high heels, or something like that. Shoe boss was kind enough to let them use the store for filming. I was cast as an extra in the how not to walk in heels. It was pretty easy, really, since I hate heels and always wear flats. I’m being adventurous in a 1 inch heel, really. So they got shots of me wearing these:

…and I lived to tell about it. It’s a 4 1/4 inch heel, the highest we have in the store. I asked Ashes if it was possible to upload it to YouTube so you can all see my film debut. I’ll let you know what she says.

I’ve still been oversleeping a lot, which has absolutely got to stop. I’ve been looking at a couple of habits that contribute to this: caffeine and blogging, or the internet in general. Since I’ve been so tired, and soda is available at work, I’ve been sucking it down like there’s no tomorrow. New rule is that I don’t drink any caffeine after lunch. And internet - gosh, it’s so easy to lose track of time on these internets. You think you’re only spending a minute or 2 checking email and a quick rundown of a couple favorite blogs, and next thing you know the boss is calling asking if you’re seriously ill because you haven’t been in all week. It hasn’t gotten that bad with me, but I have been up till the wee hours with bloodshot eyes staring at my computer screen. So now, no computer after 10pm - 11 on weekends. As of this writing, that means I only have 25 minutes to finish this post and check my other blogs before shutting down for the night. We’ll see how that goes.

So, in the interest of time, I must be going now. Tomorrow night I don’t have to work so I’ll have more time for you all. Till then…

Web Happenings Etc.

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Blogaholic, Blogger, Home, Internet

First of all, something weird is happening. I signed up for a WordPress account, and they have this neat feature that allows you to import another blog, so I decided to try it. Now I see that all my previous posts have absolutely no paragraph separation. The only way to fix it that I know of is to go in and edit the html of each and every post. This is my 102nd post, and I really don’t need yet another project. If anyone has any other ideas, let me know. (ETA: I figured it out. My publishing settings got changed, I had to change it back to convert the line breaks. Phew!)

I do have a few blogs, 2 are inactive, 1 is kind of active (I go on mostly to check out what my friends are doing), the WordPress one is too new to know how active it will be, and of course this one. My Blogger blog is my baby. It was the first one I had, and I have the most control over the page design and content. The others you have to pay for to get that kind of control, and I’m all set with that. I don’t pay for anything online, except to actually have access at home. I see that Blogger is upgrading things, which they currently have in beta at the moment. Personally, I like things the way they are, but I’d just like to see a few things added. More templates would be awesome, along with the ability to change your template without having to go back and edit every darned thing in your sidebar (WP has this ability). I’d also like to see tags directly on this site, simply to keep my own stuff organized without having to go through a 3rd party (no offense, Technorati). And photo albums - it would be great if every picture was placed in an album on our blogs, with a link to it in the sidebar, and when someone is browsing through the album, if they click on the picture it will bring you to the post it’s in. Just a thought.

I’m hesitant to try beta because it’s just that - beta. A lot of people consider me to be web-savvy, but I don’t always think so. And I never want to be among the first people to use a new release of something. I’d much rather wait until the bugs get worked out by the brave people. And Blogger Beta doesn’t allow html formatting in the template. I like the idea of making it user friendly for the uninitiated, but let those of us who do know a thing or 2 about html mess around with our code. I’ll most likely wait until the final release, when I’m required to change over.

I also signed up at Technorati today, because I have discovered the joy and genius of tags. So that’s another project, to tag all my posts. Like I don’t spend enough time online as it is. And you can all see the results of me going nuts over buttons, as of this writing I have 9 in my sidebar. Trust me, more will be going up as time goes on.

In other news, I went out and ran some errands, but I don’t know where my mind was. My main goal today was to get my car smogged and get an oil change. Didn’t happen, so now I need to try and find time this week to get it done. I did get some grocery shopping done, and did laundry (which I just finished moments ago). I also managed to clean my kitchen, with the exception of the floor. That will be done at a later date - a much later date if I can ever pull myself away from the computer.

And it looks like the apartment complex is painting the buildings. They are currently a dingy beige with dark brown accents, and terra cotta tile roofs. The new colors have terra cotta colored accents. I hope they change the dingy beige to a brighter cream color, that would really brighten things up around here. No idea when my building will get done.

Time to go now. It’s after 10 and I still need to eat dinner, which I haven’t done yet because I’ve been spending so much damn time on these internets!!!!!

I Got My Button

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Computer, Internet

Even though I keep saying I need to step away from the computer, I’m not listening. I did finally get that button. If anyone wants it, just go to View–> source and copy and paste it that part of the code into your own template. I’m assuming that those who would want the button have an inkling of knowledge about this sort of thing.

If you can’t figure out the view source part of it but have a handle on copy and paste, and you know where to put it in on your template, just leave me a comment with your email and I’ll send it to you in a notepad document, and you can copy and paste it from there. I won’t publish any comments with email addresses in them, so you won’t have to worry about spam.

Button Fever!

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Internet

I asked Macoosh how she got the cool button that links to her website, and she told me what site she made it on. I’ve tried that one and a few others I found, but for me, I just can’t get what my blog’s name into a 80×15 button. I could put “About Me” but that seems a bit too generic and if someone were to use it on their website, a reader could get confused and think it links to that user’s profile. Not being the super creative type, I really don’t know what to put.

I then found that there are tons of pre-made buttons that one can “steal” online. Ok, now I have a new hobby. Buttons are cool. And the absolute best button site I found online is this guy’s. Besides having lots of great links and information, he’s got over 3,700 buttons to steal. Oh yeah! I want lots of buttons on my blog. But I did think about it, and I might just make another section in my sidebar just for buttons, so it looks nice and neat. I’ll keep all my original links the way they are, just so they’re in English for the benefit of the less technically inclined. Macoosh, you’re going back to text in the Blogs I Like section but you’ll also be in my buttons - all in the interest of neatness, of course!

Oy. Too much playing around on this thing. I should get going before I get too tired. And if I figure out a button for me that I like, I’ll let you all know.

Need Input

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Friends, Movies

I love the Short Circuit movies. Watching Johnny Five on his zealous quest for input is hysterical. I’ve actually been to the World’s Biggest Bookstore featured in the second movie. It’s in Toronto, not New York, and it is pretty big. It has all the charm of a supermarket. Anyhoo, I am constantly searching out new stuff for my blog and of course looking for new blogs to read and keep me entertained. I made a few changes to my sidebar today. First, in the interest of neatness, I moved Macoosh’s link to the top of my blogs section. Since it’s different from the regular text links, I just think it looks better if it’s not in the middle. Also, in my Stuff I’ve Mentioned section, I moved the clock out above it. I put the two bolded links at the top, to make them even easier to find. And since AJ asked me for a little technical help on a couple of her links, I thought the best way to figure it out was to play around with it on my blog. I got her issue figured out, and since her new links are so different and stand out so well, I put them together at the bottom of the links section. While I was at it, I also stole a cute little thing from her sidebar to use in mine - it’s below the calendar.

In one of my emails to her today, I had to be funny and rework a quote from a movie into one of my own. I’ve also put that at the bottom of my sidebar. I love that my sidebar keeps getting longer and longer. I’m also trying my hardest not to have a bunch of irrelevant crap on it like some blogs do (no one that I know, though). And my biggest accomplishment, I think, is that the sidebar is next to the actual posts, not way far down at the bottom of the page. Knowing a thing or 2 about the size of stuff helps, because if you put something too wide in your posts, then it pushes the sidebar down like that. It drives me nuts when I have to scroll waaaaay down to see someone’s sidebar.

I stayed at work nearly an hour late tonite because I was cleaning out some file cabinets that were basically the equivalent of junk drawers. Now it’s so neat everyone will be afraid to touch it, which is the way I like it. It won’t get messed up again.

I do have a huge list of things I want to get done around the house this weekend, plus other computer-related pursuits like cleaning up and re-organizing my bookmarks. And of course I have a huge list of websites I want to check out and see if they’re any good. We’ll see how much of that I actually get done. Right now, I’m just gonna sit in front of the tube.

Mix Exchange Results Revealed

Published by Kirsten under Music

Shortcake did get her CD, quite some time ago in fact since I finished it and mailed it before I went on vacation. Here are the results:

1. A song from the last record you bought - Fall Apart Again by Brandi Carlile, from her self-titled cd
2. A blues song: not necessarily a blues record but a song that is labeled (something) blues - Aunt Hagar’s Blues by Art Tatum, from the album The Complete Capitol Recordings
3. A song that gets you going in the morning - Rise and Shine by The Cardigans
4. A song you think is romantic - At Last by Etta James
5. One of the earliest records that you can remember listening to - Can’t Smile Without You by Barry Manilow
6. A song you discovered from a film - Raised on Promises by Sam Philips, from the film Ruby in Paradise (which needs to come out on Region 1 DVD already!)
7. A song from your favorite artist/band - Wayne by Chantal Kreviazuk
8. A song from an artist/band that you otherwise don’t like, but like this one - Vision of Love by Mariah Carey
9. A lullaby - Lullaby by Jonatha Brooke
10. A song that makes you laugh/you find funny - Noses by Rosenshontz (I was a big fan back in elementary school, when they came to perform a few times.)
11. A really good cover version - Jolene by Mindy Smith
12. A song that reminds you of school days - Crazy on You by Heart
13. A song from an artist that you are embarrassed to admit you like - I’m With You by Avril Lavigne
14. Whatever it is, it’s got to be funky - Everybody Got Their Something by Nikka Costa
15. A song for those quiet rainy days - Bursting Through by Bic Runga
16. A song that no matter when you hear it, it makes you feel good - Waterloo by ABBA
17. A song with the word “look” in the title - Looking for a Place to Happen by The Tragically Hip
18. From a member of the “dead rockers society” - I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones
19. Your favorite Elvis song - A Little Less Conversation (JXL Remix) by You-Know-Who
20. Wildcard - hey, just put any song you like on! - Four Seasons in One Day by Crowded House

I also made up some liner notes to explain why I put the songs I did on there, mainly to avoid the “what the hell was she thinking” syndrome, and in that I listed any songs that were runner-up in that category. Besides the friendship and having fun thing, one of the points of this project is to introduce us to new music, so I thought the runner-up part was appropriate. No word yet on whether she liked it or not, but the again I haven’t read the boards in a couple days. And I’m still waiting for my CD, but Shortcake has also been on vacation (it’s that time of year) and she mentioned she’s hunting down a particular song, so when I get it I’ll post it on here for you.

I Won’t Stay Up Late Blogging

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Blogaholic, Computer, Internet

Yeah, right. Who am I kidding?

I worked with AJ at the Job#2 tonite. We are such blog geek enablers. She has a list of things to do in her pocket (all computer related) and as we chatted about blogging and other computer related activities, I created a list too. I even told her how when I was at the airport waiting to board my flight in Boston, I was going through all my receipts and writing down my spending for my vacation. When I was done I ended it with an html tag < / vaca spending >

Yeah, I’m a geek. And I have no plans on quitting.

I need to get a few more things done online, in addition to eating my 4th meal, before I go to bed way too late again. ‘Til next time….

Just a Quick Post

Published by Kirsten under Internet, Thought, Work, sleep

Because I’m hungry and I want to eat something before it gets too late. This darn schedule is making me fat. See, because I work 2 jobs, on the nights I have to work Job#2 I eat dinner around 5:45 so I have enough energy to make it through the shift, since I don’t get a break on the short evening shifts. On nights I don’t work, I usually eat dinner around 7-7:30. Because I eat so early on work nights, I’m hungry by the time I get home and end up eating my 4th meal then. On nights I don’t work, I only eat 3 meals. If only I liked exercise and had time for it…

I found a cool new web tool - check out the calendar at the bottom of my sidebar. I found it through Blog Surfers Anonymous. There’s not a huge selection, but the calendars they have are pretty nice. Click the link under my calendar to get your own.

I also talked to my head shrinker today about plans for the future. She said she can tell that this is pretty firm for me, so I just hope that the passing of time before my lease is up doesn’t do anything to dampen those plans. I feel like I have more direction now that I ever have had for anything, and it feels good. I don’t even have any doubts about these plans either, which is a strange and unusual thing for me. Again, I hope the passing of time doesn’t bring about any doubts, since having too much time to think about things has the tendency to do that.

So, I’m off to eat ramen and go to bed. Sweet Dreams!

Movies and TV

Published by Kirsten under Internet, Movies, TV, YouTube

I finally went to see Little Miss Sunshine tonight. Thanks, Macoosh, for the recommendation. It was excellent - the kind of excellent that has one scanning the new DVD releases so as to buy it the minute it goes on sale. Here’s the trailer:

A terrific ensemble cast, and Steve Carell has never been better. I can’t say enough good things about this movie, so you should just all go out and see it, unless you have something against smart, independent films. But I don’t, and I thought this was hilarious - funnier than Tommy Boy. Funnier than Elf. Even funnier than The Forty Year Old Virgin. Those movies played up the comedy for the specific reason of labelling the movie a comedy. This movie had such a sense of realism to it and excellent character development, and that touch of reality is what made it so much funnier. Just go see it.

Now for the TV part. I don’t usually like to invite heated discussions by bringing up controversial topics because frankly, I have my opinions, you have yours, let’s just leave it at that. But documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock of SuperSize Me fame has a tv series on F/X called 30 Days, where he tries to, at the very least, get people to open their minds up about opposing viewpoints by immersing them in some type of foriegn culture for 30 days. I do realize that with any documentary, there are editorial liberties taken, but this show is very thought provoking and does its best to show both sides of the issue at hand fairly. If you get a chance to watch it, I highly recommend it.

Now, I want to know WTF is up with my broadband connection. My tv is working just fine, but my internet has been a bit wonky the past few days. I’ll be surfing online and all of a sudden my connection goes out. My modem looks just fine, all the lights are one, but I have to reset it and sometimes restart my computer. It’s really freaking annoying, but I’m hesitant to call the cable company because the modem reset works for at least a few hours, so the not-so-brilliant people at tech support won’t be able to get to the root of the problem. It’s just really annoying.

Well, it’s after 9 now and I still have to eat some dinner. I also thought of a use for the little pineapple snack cups that I bought a while back and haven’t touched. I’m gonna make Pina Coladas! I bought some pineapple sherbet and coconut rum, and I’ll crank up my little single cup blender and makes me a frozen drink. I don’t drink a lot and don’t know what’s in a real pina colada, but this will do the trick just fine. Cheers!

But Wait, There’s More

Published by Kirsten under Work

As I was sitting here this evening computing and finding new blogs to read, I got a call from Shoe Boss asking if I remembered seeing the clearance tray of jewelry yesterday. I’m sure I do, since I cleaned the glass around it sometime during the super slow evening, but the whole thing gone?! That’s just too much to take, and would be a huge hit to our store if it did disappear. But a few minutes later I got another call from Shoe Boss saying she found it under the wallets. WTF? How did it get there? No one seems to know. But at least it was found, as hard as it tried to hide from us.

I think I’m about done computing for the evening. Time to veg in front of the boob tube and be an absolute slug.

I Have Free Time

Published by Kirsten under Food, Shopping

Now what do I do?

I thought about it a lot today. Do I finish grocery shopping (don’t get me started on War-Mart Neighborhood Market)? Do I just do a little bit of casual window shopping? Do I see that movie? In the end, I decided to just come straight home and chill out, because it’s been so long since I’ve done that. I’m catching up on some computer stuff, then I’ll eat dinner and catch up on some more tv, and hopefully will turn in early. I think tomorrow I’ll go to the movies.

And, Craving Clam Haven:
I just wish I had the time to visit Clam Haven while I was back east visiting everyone. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of fried foods, this place absolutely rocks. My mom craved their onion rings when she was preggers with me, but since they are only open in the warmer months she had to wait until she was in her 7th month to get them. These rings are seriously the best - thick beer batter that gets crispy to just the right degree, soft onions, and the greasy coating it leaves in your throat, so that you have to get a frappe to wash it all down. Perfect. Those pregnancy-induced pigouts in the final months are probably what explain my food tastes today. Thanks, Mom.

Slow and Lazy Sunday

Published by Kirsten under Shopping, Thought, Work

It was ridiculously slow at the store today. So, I left an hour early and wandered the mall for a bit. I went into our sister shoestore and chatted up the manager there for a bit, and while I was at it I actually found 2 pairs of comfy shoes that fit. Since I can also take advantage of my employee discount at Sister Shoe Store, I did just that and got the 2 pairs for $30 and change. They are sandals, but since summer here in Vegas lasts about 6 months, I’ll get quite a lot of use out of them.

I never got out to see that movie yesterday, but I’ll try this week. The movie I was wanting to see is Little Miss Sunshine, and since Macoosh and I seem to be long lost twins and she loved it, I’m sure I will too. I’m only working 2 nights this week, which will be a refreshing change of pace. I don’t even remember what it feels like to just go straight home from the office!

I totally skipped church this morning. I had absolutely no willpower to get my ass out of bed, and as a result didn’t get up until noon. That has so got to stop, because the days are getting shorter and I’m much worse at getting up in the winter than in the summer, since it’s dark then when my alarm goes off. I wish there was some sort of willpower pill to take, because I seriously have none.

Now that I’m back from my vacation, I have lots to do to keep up with my life and also to reach my goals, now that I know what they are. I’ve known since the minute I landed here in Vegas that it wouldn’t be forever, and I’m really feeling like my time here is coming to an end (which would be sometime next spring or summer, when my lease is up). My next move I haven’t been so clear on, but I knew I wanted to move someplace greener, someplace friendlier, someplace with seasons (trust me, clear and sunny gets boring after awhile), something with an atmosphere a bit closer to what I’m familiar with. But while my exact destination isn’t really clear, I do know that I do NOT want to move back in the same vicinity of my family, back to my old stomping grounds. It’s nice to visit, but again there’s the drama in my family and the whole issue of not being able to take a shit without everyone in my extended family finding out about it. I still need my own space. I did email an e-friend regarding some thoughts I had on it because she did a similar move in her life, and basically she her thoughts and words gave life and direction to the arbitrary thoughts I have been having. I’m not ready to say here what all those thoughts are and what direction I’m heading in, mainly because I don’t want to feel too much pressure about it. I’d like it to still feel like my descision, and I’d like it continue to work it out for myself to make sure that it’s what I really want. But it’s there, and honestly I do think it is what I really want, but with so much time between now and when my lease is up, I need to know for sure and know that nothing will sidetrack me between now and then.

Ok, that was really cryptic except to one person (hi Courtney!) but that’s ok. I still need to explore it with my head-shrinker to make sure I’ve explored every angle of this and all that fun stuff. But first, it’s getting late. I have a ton of tv to catch up on from when I was gone (love the DVR) and some dinner to eat. And I should put the laundry away because I laid it all out over my bed this morning, mainly to make sure it gets put away. I have nowhere else to sleep, so dumping stuff on my bed is an effective way of getting things done. Good thing I only do that with the laundry, it would be really nasty if I did that with dirty dishes!

Have a pleasant evening!

New Counter

Published by Kirsten under Blog, Internet

Not for my kitchen. That would be nice, a new solid-surface countertop with integrated sink. Ah, one can only dream. No, I got a new hit counter for my website. For some odd reason, the one I was using disappeared. Just like that, it’s gone. The code was still there in my template, but I couldn’t log into the website at all. So I visited a new website and got a new counter. But since I had no idea where I was at on my old counter, I just started over. I might still change it, but for now this works. We’ll see how it goes.
