A Sweaty, Dusty Day

Published by Kirsten at 8:53 pm under Money, Work

Since we have a visitor coming to the office tomorrow, my boss wants the place to look top-notch. Our visitor is a manager from another office, and since he’s friends with Mad Scientist he’s been in quite a few times before, but since we just had a remodel done Mad Sci has to do the whole male competition thing. So that means I spent the whole day running around, picking stuff up, putting things away (once I figured out where things would go), dusting, cleaning, moving stuff, crawling under desks to move Time Flying Dudette’s computer, etc. Of course this has to happen on a day that I’m going straight to Job#2 after work, so I’m wearing nice clothes as I’m getting all dusty and sweaty. I wish I had time to go home and take a shower between jobs, but I don’t so I felt so gross while I was at Job#2, and I was just as busy there getting all sweaty (but not dusty).

On the way home tonite I was driving by an office park and noticed something weird on the electronic message board. I am absolutely sure I saw -127C. Nothing in Vegas is that cold, unless there’s a cryolab here somewhere. That threw me for a loop, until I got to the next office park and saw the real temp of 92F.

Here’s the spending summary for the day:
$3.68 - cortisone cream because I’m itchy and don’t have any itch cream at home
$1.08 - Sausage McMuffin with egg because I was starving and didn’t eat breakfast
$2.14 - to laminate my grocery list so it’s reusable. I just check off the things I need, and with a little discipline, I won’t buy things not on the list. Also, I won’t have to keep buying paper to make a list with.
Total today: $6.90. I could have been more prepared and had breakfast at home, or at least remembered to bring something to work. Something I need to work on.

I should have my camera back tomorrow so I’ll have some pics to post this weekend, hopefully!

Not bad. Make sure you talk your office into buying things like the cream since you get itchy there cleaning up. Laminate, paper, pens, etc. are all things you steal from work. Get in early to start the coffee and hope others pick up your favorite sausage mcmuffin.

Kirsten, I just found your blog and have read through just a couple of posts. Later, I’ll read more, but what’s with you posting your spending habits?

I’m sure at some point I’ll find the post that explains it, but I’m a newbie and don’t want to have to wait that long.

Onehungman, if you read through the “Confessions of a Shopaholic” post you’ll see why I’m posting my spending. Basically, I’m trying to keep it under control with help from my readers.

Kirsten — is it the shopping or the buying that is most important to you? If it is the shopping, then shop! Just don’t purchase. I can spend hours in the mall and come out with my shopping jones appeased having purchased only one or two necessities.

I found you through a link om Blog Surfers Anonymous …
